New Nintendo

It’s happened, folks! A brand new Pokémon game has been announced for the Nintendo DS! This game is a crossover game featuring Pokémon and a long-running video game series taking place in feudal Japan called Nobunaga’s Ambition. Pokémon + Nobunaga’s Ambition is set to release in Japan sometime in Spring 2012. However, it’s uncertain whether the game will be released outside of Japan.

The game takes place in the Ranse region, and features a variety of characters:

• The titular Nobunaga is the head warlord and is featured with Zekrom
• Oichi is a girl who helps the player out along with her Jigglypuff
• Shingen wears red armor and fights alongside Groudon
• The blue-haired Mitsuhude teams up with Articuno
• White-clad Kenshin is paired with Mewtwo
• Also, the player will be able to choose to be a boy or a girl, and will start with Eevee

More information is promised in January, but until then, you can check out the Japanese website! I know this unexpected turn of events certainly raised a few eyebrows, but the game basically boils down to “Samurai meet Pokémon,” and how could that not be awesome!?
