Higher-Quality Hyrule Historia Preview, Plus New Pages [UPDATE: Page Translation Reveals Part of the Timeline]

The much anticipated Zelda art book, Hyrule Historia, doesn’t come out in Japan until tomorrow, but several new scans of the book are online and at a much higher quality than the previous preview images released by Nintendo.

No, this is not a complete scan of the book; it’s just a few more pages that expand on the previous preview of the book. In addition to larger versions of the Skyward Sword and Link concept art page, we now have a Skyward Sword Zelda concept art page, a Midna concept art page, timelines showing the evolution of Link and Zelda’s visual appearance, and two pages that discuss Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and Twilight Princess (could these last pages be part of the alleged timeline that will featured in the book?)

UPDATE: We have found a translation for one of the timeline pages (3rd in the below gallery). Also, according to the table of contents, this section of the book (pg. 110-113) falls withing the timeline section of the book (pg. 68-122), and is under the “The Twilight Realm and the Hero’s Descendant” sub-section.

UPDATE #2: More of the available timeline pages have now been translated. Jump inside for more.

What Would Skyward Sword Have Been Like On The Game Boy?

I really love these reimaginings of modern video games as retro video games (‘de-makes’). Mainly it’s because it shows that the games of the past were possible of great depth, and many of them did achieve it. It also shows that gap isn’t so great between the games of today and yesterday in terms of concept and design.

In this case, someone has reimagined The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword as it would have been if it were released on the Game Boy (a.k.a. Link’s Awakening stlye).

Skyward Sword Manga Preview

Despite the fact that Nintendo released a preview of two pages for Akira Himekawa’s upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword manga when they announced the publication of Hyrule Hystoria, the two pages were not the two pages that were previewed in Nintendo Dream Magazine last month.

After a several-years-long hiatus, Zelda fan site History of Hyrule is back up and running and has scans of the two rough pages that were featured in the magazine as part of a preview for the new manga.

New Harvest Moon 3DS Trailer

We have yet another new trailer for a Nintendo 3DS game this morning. This third trailer is for Harvest Moon: Hajimari no Daichi (Harvest Moon: New Earth).

The new trailer doesn’t reveal anything new, but it does give us a visual tie-in to many of the things we’ve heard about the game since it’s announcement earlier this year.

New 8-Minute Trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

This seems to be the week of Kingdom Hearts news. In adition the slew of information that surfaced a few days ago, a new eight-minute-long trailer has been released for the Nintendo 3DS’s Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.

The trailer was originally shown at Jump Festa, and has since made it’s way online. Like the previous footage that has been released for the game, it is in Japanese, so it’s difficult to determine the story points of the game, which the first part of the trailer heavily focuses on. However, even if you can’t speak Japanese, you can still get a good look at some of the game’s new characters, worlds, and gameplay.

Mario Kart 7 – Dodge The Blue Shell With Ease

Published on December 18th, 2011 by in 3DS

Heh, I love the Blue Shell in Mario Kart games. It adds a great deal of unpredictability to any Mario Kart race. I’ve always been looking for ways to dodge it, and it’s been done only on a handful of occasions. I have yet to master that, snaking, and shortcutting laps on stages.

Watching these AI pull some funny stunts is great humor for me, because I would always end up raging knowing that their little escapade pulls a clinch victory. Ever since I started Mario Kart, I always favored the unpredictability! It’s, to me, one of the elements that makes the game as exciting as is. And when you’re playing with family, it gets really intense. Having that trick or two up the sleeve really gives the competition an edge! Now, watch this video and see Toad pull a miraculous dodge! Hyrule Historia Reveals the Zelda Timeline

There’s been a lot of buzz about the tell-all Hyrule compendium known as the Hyrule Historia, set to hit Japan Wednesday, but here’s a megaton that as Zelda theorizing enthusiasts we Zelda Informers just couldn’t pass up. Hyrule Historia is going to reveal the Zelda timeline.

We don’t know all the full details, but the confirmation comes from the table of contents page, posted at left. The layout looks eerily similar to the Legends Timeline I’ve propagated for the last year-and-a-half, but without full details and thanks to the confusion caused by timeline splits laid out a linear fashion it’s hard to say for sure what it means. Jump inside for the translated Table of Contents and my thoughts.
