This is a small bit of news, but I found it incredibly fascinating.
GoNintendo recently observed that Ghirahim’s first sword in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword bears an uncanny resemblance to a previous sword we’ve seen in the series, in fact, the very first sword we ever saw in a Zelda game.
There are a lot of visual throwbacks between Skyward Sword and The Legend of Zelda (the dungeon entrances/animations for example), so Occam’s razor says that the developers took the design from here just to be nostalgic. I doubt that there’s any particular meaning behind the decision in a timeline sense (not that they couldn’t invent one in the future), but it is interesting, especially since Link’s 8-bit sword in the game doesn’t even resemble the one on the title screen.
